TMXwr™ Frequently Asked Questions

I already use WinRunner. Why should I get TMX?

If you want your QA process to be more efficient and effective, you need TMXwr! With TMXwr, you will add keyword flexibility and functionality to the already powerful WR test engine. Immediately, you will increase the use of WinRunner by opening up the creation of fully executable test scripts to non-technical business and QA analysts. You don’t need to know the underlying TSL to create complete, fully annotated scripts with TMXwr.

In addition, you can reduce your maintenance and license costs. With TMXwr, you can have multiple instances of TMXwr up and running on your network for each WinRunner license. You don’t need to have a WinRunner license for each individual who writes test cases.

Why shouldn’t I stick with Mercury and move to QTP?

Sure, go ahead—if you want to pay substantially more for the same functionality as you get with TMXwr. Also, you’ll be giving up your expertise and experience with a known tool (your WinRunner knowledge and experience won’t help you with QTP), and your current test library will also be obsolete with QTP.

Oh, yeah....you might want to make sure that the applications you’re testing can work with QTP. A lot of them won’t.

How much will adding TMX affect my budget?
Greatly! In a typical installation, you can add the power and functionality of TMXwr and reduce your current budget! Think about that for a moment. By adding the flexibility and functionality offered by TMXwr, your hard dollar costs for licenses and maintenance will decrease.
We outsource most of our code development. How will this help?
With TMXwr, you don’t need to wait for the code to be delivered to start building your test cases or maintaining your existing test library. Work directly from the requirements and begin building your test library as soon as the requirements are known. When the completed code is delivered by your developers, your test library is already built and ready to go. Import the GUImap and you’re ready to go.
What about training? How do I get my team up to speed?
You’ll find that using TMXwr’s unique point-and-click interface is easy and straightforward. Training can be conducted in person or over the Internet. Some of our customers have utilized the TMXwr Video Tours and the Using TMXwr Guide as the basis for training, and have had their QA team building comprehensive test cases on the very first day following installation.
